Channa Kadhi Recipe | Quick Recipes

This quick recipe of Channa Kadhi is that one dish you cannot miss at any cost! Must try this recipe at home!

Ingredients for Kadhi:

  • Yogurt                                                   ½ kg
  • Gram flour                                          5 tbsp
  • Red chili powder                              as required
  • Turmeric, salt                                     as required
  • Onion paste                                      1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste                                        1 tbsp
  • Boiled black chickpeas                   2 cups
  • Oil                                                          4 tbsp
  • Water                                                   2 cups
  • Oil                                                           1-2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds                                      ¾ tsp


Ingredients for masala:

  • Oil                                                           ½ cup
  • Button red chilies                             2-3
  • Curry leaves                                       as required
  • Grinded onion                                   1
  • Garlic paste                                        1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder                              1 tsp
  • Crushed red chilies                          ½ tsp
  • Salt                                                         as required
  • Turmeric powder                             as required


Ingredients for Oil tempering

  • Whole red chilies                             3-4
  • Curry leaves                                       10-12
  • White cumin                                      2 pinch
  • Oil                                                          ¾ cup

Ingredients for garnishing:

  • Papri                                                      ½ cup
  • Green coriander                               as required
  • Chopped green chilies                    as required
  • Chaat masala                                     as required
  • Cumin seeds                                      as required
  • Button red chilies                             4



  • Heat oil in a wok and add sliced onion; fry it till it starts changing its color.
  • After this add yogurt, water and gram flour in a blender and blend it well.
  • Add this mixture to the wok and mix it well.
  • In a separate pan add oil, whole red chili, curry leaves and white cumin; roast it well.
  • Then add black boiled chickpeas to the pan and let the masala chickpeas roast.
  • Wait until the kadhi starts to get is thick; then add the chickpeas mixture to the kadhi.
  • Let it cook for another 15 to 20 minutes.
  • For tempering heat oil in another pan and add all the tempering ingredients.
  • When the tempered ingredients are ready, add them to the kadhi as well.
  • Finally dish it out in small bowls and garnish it with papri, green coriander, green chilies and chaat masala.
  • Serve it hot and fresh!
