Bread Tartlets Recipe | Zarnak Sidhwa in Food Diaries

Ingredients

  • 6 slices White or Brown Bread
  • 3-4 tbsp Cheese Grated
  • 1 Potato( boiled and cubed)
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 1 Tomato Chopped
  • 6 Green or Black  Olives
  • ½ tsp Red Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp Dry Basil
  • ½ tsp Dry Oregano
  • salt as required
  • Oil or Melted Butter

Methods

  1. Trim the edges of the bread. flatten each piece with a rolling pin.
  2. Place the bread in a muffin tin. brush with some oil or melted butter.
  3. Secure a piece of crumpled foil on each bread. bake at 190 degrees C for 10-12 minutes till the breads are crisp and  browned.
  4. Remove the muffin tin from the oven and discard the foil.
  5. Put the potatoes, tomatoes and onions on the bread. sprinkle the dry herbs and the chili powder along with some salt. top up with the grated cheese.
  6. Put the olives and bake again in the oven for 3-5 mins till the cheese gets melted.
  7. Garnish with fresh sprigs of coriander or parsley and serve.
