  • Flour 1 tbsp
  • Mustard 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Grated Cheese 4 oz
  • Chili Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • Egg 1
  • Butter 1 tbsp
  • salt ` 1/2 tsp
  • Bread slices 4-6
  • Ketchup to serve
  • Oil as required

Mix all ingredients together and apply the mixture on the bread slices. Heat oil and fry the cheese mixture side first, then turn over on the plain side, till golden. Drain and serve with ketchup or any sauce.


  • Lean ground beef ½ kg
  • Onion, diced 1
  • Garlic, minced 1 clove
  • Water 1 cup
  • Salt 1 ½ tsp
  • Dried thyme ½ tsp
  • Ground black pepper ¼ tsp
  • Ground cloves a pinch of

For short crust pastry:

  • Flour 400gm
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Cold butter cubed 200gm
  • Eggs 2
  • Cold water 3-6 tbsp

Cook beef mince, onion, garlic, water, salt, thyme, black pepper and cloves in a pan till mince is done. Allow to cool to room temperature. For the pastry, mix cold butter in the flour, add salt, eggs and cold water and then form a dough and chill few hours. Divide in half and roll to the size of the pie plate and spoon the meat mixture into the pie crust. Cover the meat mixture with the top pastry dough and pinch edges to seal. Cut slits in top crust so steam can escape. Cover edges of pie with strips of aluminum foil so they don’t burn. Bake at 180 degrees C for 20-30 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing.
