Khatay Aalu are the perfect thing to make when you’re not in the mood to cooking but yet want something yummy for dinner.

  • Boiled potato 500 gram
  • Tamarind pulp 4 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Crushed red chili 1 tbsp
  • Chaat Masala 1 tbsp
  • Orange food color 1 pinch
  • Oil ½ cup
  • Curry leaves 4-5

Potatoes cut in cubes. then add tamarind pulp and all ingredients add and make thick .after this in a woke heat oil and fry curry leaves .then add tamarind pulp and water add and roast masala .when masala dry then add potatoes .then add orange food color and mix well and cook for 3 minutes .finally remove in dish and garnish with green coriander and serve .


  • White lentil ½ kg
  • Tomatoes 250gm
  • Ginger julienne 1
  • Onion 1
  • Green chilies 4
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Red pepper crushed 1tsp
  • Cumin 2tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Oil 4tbsp
  • Pickle as required
  • Papad as required


Boil white lentil with turmeric ,remove,now heat oil in a pan & fry onions till brown , now add green chilies, tomatoes, cumin, crushed red pepper and salt and cook it , now mix it with black lentil , remove, lastly fry garlic cloves in oil add cumin and add this to black lentil & serve with achar and papad .
