  • Black gram ½ kg
  • Tomatoes 250 gm
  • Ginger 1 piece
  • Onion 1
  • Green chilies 4
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Butter 100 gm
  • Red chili flakes 1 tsp
  • Dried fenugreek leaves 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Oil 4 tbsp




  • Mutton 1/2 kg
  • Water 4 cups
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Ginger garlic 1 tbsp
  • Potatoes 1/2 kg
  • Tomatoes 250 gm
  • Yogurt 250 gm
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • All spice powder 1 tsp
  • Cardamoms 4 (small)
  • Cloves 4
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Green chilies as required
  • Fresh coriander for garnish


Boil the mutton in 4 cups water. Then heat oil add boiled mutton, ginger garlic, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, cardamoms, cloves, bay leaves and coriander powder. Cook well until the mutton gets tender. Now add yogurt and mix well. Then add grind tomatoes and add to the mutton mixture. Cook properly. Now add potatoes and cook well. Then add 2 cups more water, cover and cook well. Lastly add all spice powder, green chilies and fresh coriander. Serve hot.
