Ingredients:
- Fondant as required
- Red food gel/colour few drops
- Black food gel/colour few drops
Ingredients for Chocolate Cake:
- Flour 2 cups
- Sugar 2 cups
- Cocoa powder 3/4 cups
- Baking powder 1-1/2 tsp
- Soda bicarbonate 1-1/2 tsp
- Milk 1 cup
- Eggs 3
Butter (melted) 1/2 cup - Vanilla essence 1 tsp
- Boiling water 1 cup
For Buttercream Frosting:
- Butter 200 gm
- Icing sugar 400 gm
- Vanilla essence 1 tsp
- Milk 2-3 tbsp (or as desired consistency)
Method:
Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and soda bicarbonate well in a bowl. Cream the butter. Add the eggs one at a time. Add vanilla essence. Add dry mix to the butter mixture, alternating with the cup of milk and boiling water. Mix well. Pour in round tin of 7-inch and bake at 180 degrees centigrade for 45 minutes.
For buttercream frosting, cream the butter and add the sugar 2-3 spoons at a time till the consistency is light and fluffy. Add the flavours and milk to butter and sugar to achieve a smooth texture.
Trim the cake in your required purse shape, place on board and crumb coat cake with buttercream frosting and put in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Colour the fondant with red, pink, and black. Dust little flour on the counter and roll the fondant as per the size of cake. For the sides, make quilt design using spatula. Cover the cake with fondant. Decorate it the way you want.
