Ingredients:

  • Red lentil (boiled) 1cup
  • Rice (cooked) 2 cups
  • Onions (fried) 2 medium
  • Tomatoes (finely chopped) 3 medium
  • Fresh coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  • Green chilies 4-5
  • Whole red chilies 3-4
  • Ginger garlic 1tbsp
    Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Black peppercorn ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon stick 1 inch
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder 1tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1tbsp
  • Cloves 4-5
  • Clarified butter 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Nutmeg, mace a pinch
  • Dried red chilies 3-4
  • Curry leaves few

Method:
Heat clarified butter in a pan and add curry leaves,2 green chilies, whole red chilies, whole all spice when start crackle add (2) tomatoes, salt, coriander powder, chilli, turmeric powder and cook until tomatoes become mashy now add boiled red lentil. Mix well and switch off the heat. In a grease pan add rice then cooked red lentil. Spread fried onions,1 sliced tomato, 3 green chilies, nutmeg, mace, bhuna masala, coriander leaves and placed on a medium heat and cook for 10 mins. Switch off the heat and Serve hot.

Ingredients For Koftas:

  • Beef mince 1/2 kg
  • Onion (sliced) 1 medium
  • Red chili powder ½ tbsp
  • Poppy seeds powder 1 tsp
  • All spice powder ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chilies 2
  • Gram flour (roasted) 6 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander as required
  • Eggs (hard boiled ) 3

Oil for deep frying

For The Gravy:

  • Oil ½ cup
  • Onion (paste) 1 cup
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Tomato paste 1/2 cup
  • Red chili powder 1tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Yogurt ½ cup
  • Green chilies 3-4
  • Fresh coriander 2 tbsp
  • All spice powder 1 tsp

Method:
For Koftas:
In a chopper, add beef mince, onion, red chili powder, poppy seeds, salt, green chilies, gram flour and green coriander. Chop until well combined. Wet your hands with water and take mince mixture, flat it on your palm then put boiled egg and coat with a thick layer of mince. In a wok, heat oil and deep fry kofta until golden brown 3-4 minutes each side on low flame and set aside.

For Gravy:
In pot, add oil and onion paste and cook for 2 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté. Add tomato puree, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix, cover and cook until oil separates. Add yogurt, cover and cook for 6-8 minutes. Now add fried nargisi kofta, green chili, green coriander, whole spice powder. Cover and cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes. Nargisi koftay is ready to serve.
